Cane Price Increase
Thursday, 27th November 2008 Following improved sugar prices on the local and international market, Mumias Sugar Company has reviewed its producer prices for sugarcane in order to share the benefits with our hard working farmers contracted to us. As promised when we last reviewed producer prices for sugarcane that prices would be adjusted with improved sugar prices, today I am pleased to announce that we are living up to that promise. With effect from Monday, 1st December 2008, Mumias Sugar Company will pay Kshs.2, 450 per tonne of sugarcane, up from the current Kshs.2,400. As a Company, we shall continue to render improved services to our farmers and top on our agenda is to sustain timely and regular payments for all cane delivered to the factory for milling. We will also continue to review the cane price according to the market forces in the Sugar Industry. Mumias will endeavour to support farmers to improve their earnings from the cash crop. |
