COYA

Awards and Recognition
COYA is an evaluation of the management practices among the premier local enterprises by the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM). It was inaugurated in the year 2000 and is supported by various organizations that sponsor different aspects of disciplines.

COYA 2006

COYA seeks to
    - Identify companies/organizations that have a practical and result-oriented leadership and management style and publicly recognize their efforts.
    - Provide participating companies with an independent and objective appraisal of their management practices and demonstrated efforts towards continual improvemen.
    - Create local performance benchmarks, identify local heroes, and develop case studies for the teaching of management
    - Provide forums for participants to share good and proven management and productivity practices
Mumias Sugar Company first took part in COYA in 2001 emerging the best company in Corporate Citizenship. The following year, Mumias was declared the best company in Human Resource Management. In the year 2003 Mumias skipped participation but returned back in 2004. In 2005 Mumias won the best Marketing Practices award.

The year 2006 saw Mumias bag two trophies, the CEO of the Year and the Environmental Management Award which MSC has now won for three years running (2006, 2007 and 2008).

COYA Awards
Mumias Sugar Company was for the third year awarded the Company of the Year (COYA) Award in Environmental Management. The award was in recognition of the company’s environment initiatives and efforts in conservation including;
