Mumias Elimu Trust
MSC considers Education as a vital component of its lifeline and that of the community within which it operates. It is with this in mind that MSC has continued to fund the construction of school infrastructure within the sugarcane zones. Since inception, MSC has constructed several school infrastructure in schools spread across the sugar belt. It is envisaged that these school buildings will go a long way in increasing accessibility to education for the children of school going age within the MSC scheme. It will also reduce overcrowding in classrooms and other facilities for the schools that benefitted thus making a tremendous contribution towards improvement of quality of Education within the scheme.
MSC has also continued to support bright students to access quality education through a bursary scheme managed by ELIMU TRUST. Through this scheme, 10 learners from the farmers’ households and an equal number from MSC staff members have annually got bursary funds to enable them access secondary school education from form 1 to form 4. The Foundation also runs the Utamu Halisi na Elimu bursary scheme that recruits 60 beneficiaries annually to join the program at Form One. Therefore 240 children are enrolled in secondary school at any time under this scheme.
MSC has continued to be the institution of choice for students from middle colleges, universities and other higher institutions of learning seeking industrial attachment. Each year more than 450 students are allowed an attachment period of 3 month with MSC. Upon completion, the learners would have gained valuable work experience that will see them fit in any work environment related to their scope of training.
The Foundation also supports the government and the education sector as a whole in hosting events that observe education days, sports and culture.
